Project stories:
Western WY, Community College
Rock Springs, WY
In
January 2001, a fire erupted in the mechanical room of Western Wyoming
Community College located in Rock Springs, WY. The fire occurred
just weeks before the school resumed from Holiday break.
Approximately 300,000 square feet of the
500,000 square foot college facility was affected by smoke. Intermountain
Construction & Recovery Alliance (ICRA) was called Friday afternoon,
and was mobilized and on site in Rock Springs WY the next day.
ICRA worked personnel seven days per week 12 hours
per day. ICRA had approximately two weeks to complete the project
before the school re-opened for classes. The project was completed
and ready for full occupancy three days prior to the scheduled opening
date
Dee-Events Center
Ogden, UT
The
NCAA season had just kicked off, when Weber State College had a water-main break
which dumped 250,000 gallons of water onto the college's basketball court.
ICRA was able to completely dry the court in less
than one week, so the basketball schedule could resume.
The edges of the court were pulled up and inject-a-dry
equipment was utilized to dry the air handling equipment and ductwork
that was underneath the court.
Wyndham Hotel
Salt Lake City, UT
August
1999, a F-2 tornado ripped through down town SLC. The Wyndham Hotel
was directly in its path.
All 13 floors suffered damaged from the tornados
wrath. The majority of the clean up was glass, dirt and various
other debris. ICRA worked with another large loss contractor to
complete the 13-floor cleanup.
ICRA‚s crew of approximately 60 people worked
12-hour shifts to board-up, clean, and restore the hotel grounds
to its original condition so the Wyndham could re-open the following
Monday (four days after the tornado).
Juniper Court Apartments
Nampa, ID
In
mid August of 2001 Juniper Court Apartments had an electrical short
causing fire to occur in the attic of a building. Even though structural
damage was confined primarily to the attic, apartments below were
heavily smoke damaged. Water from fire suppression affected the
downstairs units as well.
ICRA not only provided emergency services to the
building, but to the tenants and their contents as well.
For the structure, emergency broken glass cleanup,
and structural board-up was provided. Wet carpet was pulled and
drying equipment placed on the restorable ground floor. Additionally,
at the Fire Marshal‚s request, we provided overnight personnel to
watch for and report if flair up occurred.
Valley Linen
Nampa, ID
When
the warehouse of ICRA‚s uniform supplier suffered fire damage, they
knew who to call. We met with Valley Linen‚s owner and steel structure
specialist shortly after the smoke had cleared. In an effort to
get Valley Linen up and running as soon as possible, a deal was
struck for ICRA to work from one end of the building through the
other with 24 hour a day demolition, and cleaning services. The
structural contractor followed directly behind our people (about
four feet) at the same pace reconstructing, painting and insulating.
What made it interesting was that most of the work was performed
22 feet in the air from booms and man lifts. Although, not all structural
detail was complete, Valley Linen was up and running in three weeks
and ICRA‚s employees were back in clean uniforms.
Shadowbrook Apartments
West Valley, UT
An
illegal methamphetamine lab explosion caused severe damage to Shadowbrook
Apartments in 1995.
ICRA competed against national catastrophe companies
in the bidding process, and was awarded the full restoration project
for the apartment complex.
Twenty-four destroyed units (approximately 23,000 sf) and $830,000.00 in
damage was the result of the explosion. ICRA worked for six months to
restore the Apartment building. Many of the units had to be completely
re-built.
